In December 2005 a transcontinental freight train headed by two 3000 kW (4020 HP) 132 tonne NR class locomotives waits at Goobang junction west of Parkes to cross the weekly Sydney-bound Xplorer railcar, which that morning left Broken Hill 680 kms to the west. The big train then rolls west.
