A project I did in 2006. I took a 5 hp vertical shaft engine, stripped it down, took out the camshaft, and ground out an exhaust port in the cylinder wall at BDC. I mounted a valve with a roller actuator on it and made a cam out of a strip of metal and fastened it to the flywheel to actuate the valve at TDC. I added a heavy pulley to act as a flywheel.
